Maintenance
A site is not finished when it launches.
Plugins update, certificates expire, forms break silently. Most site failures are discovered by a customer, not by the owner.
Website maintenance covers software and plugin updates, tested backups, uptime and form monitoring, security patching and small content changes. It exists because the most expensive site problem is the one nobody noticed for three weeks.

What actually breaks.
Contact forms are the most damaging failure and the hardest to notice. A form that silently stops delivering looks completely normal from the outside, and the only symptom is a quiet month that gets blamed on the market. We monitor form delivery specifically for that reason.
Security follows from neglect rather than from targeting. Most compromised sites were running a known-vulnerable plugin version for months. Automated scanners find those without anyone deciding to attack you specifically.
Backups that have never been restored are not backups. Part of maintenance is periodically proving the restore actually works, because discovering that it does not during an emergency is the worst possible moment.

04 · Fit
Who maintenance is for.
It fits any business whose site generates enquiries or sales and cannot afford to discover a broken form three weeks late. That includes WordPress sites with a growing plugin list, stores where an update can break checkout, and any site where the person who built it is no longer around.
It fits companies without an internal developer, and companies with one who should be spending time on the product rather than on plugin updates and certificate renewals. Maintenance is mostly the discipline of checking things nobody wants to check.
It is a poor fit for a site that is about to be rebuilt, where the money is better spent on the rebuild, and we say so. It is also not a substitute for hosting: we work with your hosting provider, and recommend a change when the provider is the problem.
05 · Common mistakes
What most often breaks silently.
- Forms that stop delivering. The site looks normal, enquiries stop, and the quiet month gets blamed on the market.
- Expired certificates. Browsers show a warning before the visitor sees your page. Renewals are monitored, not remembered.
- Outdated plugins with known vulnerabilities. Automated scanners find them without anyone deciding to attack you.
- Backups that were never restored. A backup that has not been tested is a hope. We restore periodically to prove it works.
- Unattended updates that break layout. Updates are applied on a staging copy first where the stack allows.
Maintenance mostly buys the speed at which problems are found. The difference between a form broken for an hour and one broken for a month is the whole value of the service.
06 · Measurement
How we report.
A monthly summary of what was updated, what was monitored, uptime and form delivery checks, and any incident with what was done about it. Small content changes made during the month are listed so there is a record.
If something needs a decision, such as a plugin that should be replaced or hosting that is no longer adequate, the report says so with a recommendation rather than burying it.
